GEAR UP: MODTONE DYNO DRIVE

Simply a true bypass overdrive with a classic flavor. DYNO DRIVE. GEAR UP!!!!

Devin’s Take:

This overdrive has a wide dynamic range and tone sweep. At the higher tone setting it can become a bit on the harsh side. Even with the gain on 10 you still have note definition. It also sounds great to push an already distorted amp into singing sustain and harmonics. Overall a good overdrive.

GEAR UP: MODTONE ATOMIC PHASER II

The compact ModTone MT-PH Atomic Phaser II is a true bypass boutique style pedal that recreates the sweeping articulate tones of classic phasers we all love.

Devin’s Take:

My first impression of the pedal was the phasing – didn’t totally take over your notes, you could still clearly hear what was being played. There was a wide spectrum in the speed knob from wobbly fast to very slow sweeping. The depth control was a great add so you control if you want a subtle sound or over the top. This pedal features true bypass to keep your tone intact when the pedal is not engaged.

So the Atomic Phaser II by Modtone would be a good addition to anyone’s pedal board or gig bag. Go check them out at www.modtone-effects.com

GEAR UP!!!

GEAR UP: Digitech – Bass Synth Wah

Check It Out!!!

This bass synth wah produces some pretty interesting tones. It features envelopes, filters, synths, octave and auto wah effects. The envelope filters get that classic funk tone really quickly. I enjoyed the synth effects they had a wide spectrum of adjust ability to them. Great for a 80s tone or emulating your favorite video game. The filters have a great vocal quality. It might sound like your bass is talking to you….lol! The auto wah has quick response to attack but sometimes can false trigger extra notes. It would have been nice to see a output jack that isn’t just an effected signal or dry but combined for ease of use. But overall a great pedal.
